New Single – “Never Change” – Tess Grey
”Never Change” is the powerful new single from Miami, FL artist Tess Grey. Deliberately released in September during Suicide Prevention Month, the song is about Tess’ past trauma with sexual assault and her frustration having to see it play out in front of her with younger girls. You can hear the anger in Tess’ vocals build through the verses to the emotional line “Another mother fucker who can’t control his hands”. It’s a distressing subject but Tess hopes that it could help others going through similar experiences in silence.
I wrote Never Change in under 24 hours out of frustration after seeing a lot of things going down in my local scene concerning an event organizer and underage models. It made me angry and honestly triggered some past memories from my own experiences with sexual assault. I wrote some of the lyrics while on the way home after a night out and produced it a few hours later. I only hope that somebody could listen to this track and feel heard.
