Hope – Lucigenic
Manchester based indie band LUCIGENIC are releasing their new single, ‘Hope’ this Friday, 19th February. Following on from their debut EP ‘1’, which was released in 2020, ‘Hope’ builds around Lucy Davies-Wyatt’s hypnotic vocals and a repeating line of “Something happens when you close your eyes” with the song growing to a powerful, guitar-filled chorus. Its a great song that bodes well for the rest of the forthcoming EP which will be out later this year.`
“‘Hope’ depicts escapism and light during difficult, darker times” says Lucy of the new single. “We cannot ‘control our feelings‘ but we can learn what’s important in life.”
Lucigenic are Lucy Davies-Wyatt (Vocals), Gary Wyatt (Guitar)Mark Woolfenden (Bass), Simon Wolstencroft (Drums) and Chris Toole (Keys). Now, following a chance meeting with legendary producer Mike Bennett (The Fall, Ian Brown) at the Trashed TV event in Manchester, the band have formed somewhat of a “supergroup” including Dave Barbarossa (Adam and the Ants/Bow Wow Wow/Republica), Mark Refoy (Spiritualised/Spacemen 3), Steve Etherington (Rubettes/Sisters of Mercy), and vocal harmonies from Alan Keary for their forthcoming three track EP.
‘Hope’ was recorded at FarHeath Studio in Northamptonshire with producer Mike Bennett working his magic alongside engineer Angus Wallace, the same winning formula that produced acclaimed albums with The Fall. A limited edition bespoke 10” vinyl of the three tracks recorded during their time at FarHeath will be available later in 2021.
