New Album – “Heights Lake” – Dramamine

Heights Lake is the fabulous new album from Philadelphia shoegaze band Dramamine. Pete Pom, the creative force behind the solo project, has built on the sound of 2024’s When The Time Comes to create his most consistent and enjoyable record to date. Inspired by classic shoegaze bands like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine, as well as newer acts such as Nothing and Airiel, Dramamine’s sound captures a timeless, ethereal quality while exploring themes of nostalgia, longing, and introspection.

As The Alternative writes, “Where most bands in their lane go for overwhelming force, buzzing walls of sound that suck up all the empty space, Dramamine luxuriates in the emptiness.” The album expands on Pete’s signature sound, balancing familiarity with fresh, nuanced explorations of sonic space. Each track reveals a different facet of the Dramamine experience, spacious, introspective, and deeply atmospheric, drawing listeners into an intimate, otherworldly soundscape that resonates with fans of both classic shoegaze and modern dreampop. Our favorite tracks are “Into The Past”, “Signs” and “Let Go”.

Dramamine’s music embodies the sonic haze and immersive atmospheres that define the genre, creating a dreamlike soundscape that invites listeners to lose themselves in waves of reverb-drenched guitars and haunting melodies. Pete Pom’s meticulous approach to production gives Dramamine its distinctive blend of melancholic beauty and textural complexity.
