Ella Jane, Cece Coakley and Zinadelphia at The Foundry in Philadelphia

Singer-songwriter Ella Jane is currently playing her way across the US for “the marginalia tour” in support of her recent album of the same name. She played The Foundry in Philadelphia on Friday as the fourth stop of the tour with opening sets from Cece Coakley and Zinadelphia.

Philadelphia native, Zinadelphia opened the night with a solo acoustic set consisting of her current discography and covers. She performed her neo-soul single “Mirrorball,” which came out earlier this year, and an unreleased single currently titled “Songbird/Box Baby.” She closed out her brief set with a cover of “Redbone” by Childish Gambino, for which she added a red kazoo. Keep up with her future releases via her Instagram.

Indie-folk artist Cece Coakley kept the happy chill vibes of the night going with tracks from her recent EP Tender. Joined by her friend and guitarist Dawson, they played through the full EP and continued to be surprised as she caught the crowd singing the lyrics back to her. Coakley also performed her newest single “My Time” which she shared, in an interview with us earlier this summer, is her favorite song to perform live. You can read the full interview here.

“I think it’s one of my favorites to play live because there’s just a lot of energy. I don’t play guitar on it so I just kind of walk around with the microphone. It’s definitely a little scary but it’s fun to kind of live my pop star moment of just walking around.”

Finally, Ella Jane took over the stage with her band playing songs from her new album, Marginalia, which was released that day, as well as tracks from her previous album THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE! Starting with “7” and “bored&blind,” she created a steady build of energy with the crowd before getting everyone going crazy with “AUGUST IS A FEVER” as the crowd belted the lyrics with her. The set continued with all of her new album, except “You Shouldn’t Have Said That,” and a cover of “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. Jane ended the night with an encore of “Crash Cart,” “Calling Card” and her most popular song “nothing else i could do.” You can get tickets for the rest of her tour, continuing in November and again in February, via her website and keep up with her future releases and tour on her Instagram.
