New Single – “Taught Me the Game” – No Stupid Questions

NYC-based indie quartet No Stupid Questions recently gave us a wonderful new single ‘Taught Me the Game’. The new track is the second release from the follow-up to the band’s self-titled debut album from 2024 and the project is expected to be released in Fall 2026.

All self-produced by NSQ, “Taught Me The Game” is a contemplative song written about frontman Brian Cropp’s father. It’s rooted in watching a parent grow older, begin to struggle, and seeing parts of yourself reflected back. “You’re far away, got a lot to say, but we don’t talk as much as I wanted to”, the song admits in a line that captures both the distance and the weight of time. It all culminates in a soaring solo from guitarist Jake Baynum that releases the tension of the song with a little feedback and drive.

I wrote this song for my dad… the one who Taught Me the Game. The older I get, the more I realize how much of who I am, good and bad, comes from him.

Brian Cropp, No Stupid Questions

No Stupid Questions are Brain Cropp (vocals/guitar), Jake Barnum (lead guitar/piano/production), Adam Keltz (bass) and Raffi Kriegel (drums) and are known for high energy shows, catchy melodies and feel-good vibes. Somewhere in a NYC group chat, they’re being called “the best indie rock band you haven’t heard of yet.” It’s certain however that NSQ’s live shows deliver at least two of three: a shirtless bass player, a killer cover, and a guitar solo that rips.

No Stupid Questions was formed in 2022 when lead singer Brian Cropp met guitarist/producer Jake Baynum. In 2024, NSQ released their debut album No Right Answers while steadily building a following in New York City starting with gigs at Pianos and eventually headlining Bowery Ballroom. Their rise among NYC’s rock acts has been fueled by the post-pandemic surge of the DIY indie scene, where they’ve carved out their own space with high-energy shows and a growing community around their music.
