Dave wins 2019 Mercury Prize

UK rapper Dave has won the 2019 Mercury Music Prize for his debut album “Psychodrama”. He beat 11 other nominees, including Idles, Foals and The 1975, to win the award and $25,000 prize which recognizes the best British album of the past year.
Tonight’s ceremony at The Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London featured performances by most of the artists. The most controversial was from rapper Slowthai who brandished the severed head of a Boris Johnson dummy while performing his track “Doorman”.
